Modular & Hybrid Pool Solutions

Precast pool systems for Maldives resort construction.

MT Højgaard Maldives delivers pool construction approaches built around prefabrication, site assembly and hybrid concrete methods for water-villa and beach-villa resort developments.

Maldives operations

Pool construction adapted to remote resort conditions.

The supplied project material describes MT Højgaard's Maldives operations across marine works, coastal protection, harbors and resort construction, with a specialist pool focus on high-precision precast and hybrid swimming pools.

The delivery model combines design, prefabrication, logistics and on-site assembly or casting — allowing the construction method to be selected around the geometry and access conditions of each resort project.

01 / Pool system architecture

Four construction systems. Selected around the project.

Engineering approach

Pool geometry, villa type, access, lifting requirements and construction sequence influence the appropriate construction method. The systems below describe the principal approaches for Maldives resort pool delivery.

01
MTH Standard Precast Pool

Single-unit precast pool

A complete pool unit manufactured off site and installed as a single precast element.

For water villas, the unit can be positioned on prepared precast structural beams. For beach villas, the unit can be positioned on the prepared structural or ground support defined for the project.

Typical sequence
Precast→Transport→Lift→Position→Finish
Water villasBeach villasRepetitive layouts
02
MTH Modular Precast Pool

Multi-piece precast pool

Pool sections manufactured away from the final villa position, transported separately and assembled on site.

This approach is documented in the supplied project record through the two-piece Veligandhu pools and the three-piece MFAR Kudavillingili pool configuration.

Typical sequence
Design→Precast sections→Transport→Lift→Assemble
Water villasSectional liftingRemote access

03
MTH Hybrid Precast Pool

Precast base + cast-in-situ walls

A precast pool base is delivered to site, positioned on the structural beams, and the pool walls are extended upward using cast-in-situ concrete with a water bar at the connection.

The precast base provides the factory-produced starting element. Once positioned, reinforcement and the wall connection are completed on site, with the water bar integrated at the joint before the cast-in-situ walls are formed.

Typical sequence
Precast base→Deliver→Position on beams→Water bar→Cast walls

04
MTH Large-Format / Site-Built Pool

Filigree-assisted cast-in-situ construction

For larger or project-specific pool geometries, precast filigree elements can be incorporated into a predominantly cast-in-situ construction sequence.

The filigree element forms part of the base construction while the structural base and walls are completed on site. Final system selection remains subject to project engineering, access and construction requirements.

Typical sequence
Filigree→Position→Reinforce→Cast base→Cast walls

System selection: the four approaches are not fixed product packages. The appropriate construction method should be established against the pool dimensions, villa type, structural interface, access, lifting/logistics and construction programme for each project.

System selection logic

From pool geometry to construction method.

A simple engineering decision sequence helps explain why different pool configurations are used across resort developments.

01 / Assess
Pool & villa conditions Geometry, villa type, structural support and access.
02 / Determine
Prefabrication level Complete unit, sectional unit or selected precast elements.
03 / Plan
Installation sequence Transport, lifting, assembly, reinforcement and site casting.
04 / Deliver
Completed pool structure Construction method aligned with the project requirements.

02 / Delivery process

From pool geometry to installation.

A project-specific workflow based on the scope and construction methods described in the supplied material.

Step 01

Design

Establish the pool geometry and construction approach around the resort development and structural interface.

Step 02

Prefabrication

Produce precast sections or filigree/base elements off site where the selected system calls for them.

Step 03

Logistics

Plan movement, lifting and access for remote, overwater or beach-villa installation conditions.

Step 04

Assembly / casting

Lift, position and assemble modular units, or combine precast elements with cast-in-situ concrete on site.

04 / Selected project record

Pool projects documented in the supplied material.
